Thank you for posting this Jesse. It’s a very engaging and informative interview with Marable. In the discussions we’ve had in class looking at the different types of life writing…I like what Marable says in reference to Alex Haley’s book (which we now know was heavily filtered through Haley’s lens): “It’s a wonderful book. It is a great work of literature. But it is a work of literature. It is not an autobiography. It’s a memoir.”
